BARRE, Vt. -
A big donation Tuesday for Vermonters in need -- 40,000 pounds of food.
Crews unloaded the food at the Vermont Foodbank in Barre. Ocean State Job Lot made the delivery and used customer donations to make the purchase. The Foodbank's Judy Stermer said the generosity will be put to good use.
"It's a significant financial savings for the Foodbank and in December we were down about 20 percent so this is going to make a huge difference for the people we serve," she said.
The Foodbank distributes about 600,000 pounds of food every month, through a partnership with nearly 300 local agencies across Vermont.
