WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. -
Police are searching for a pair of men who pulled off a bank robbery Thursday in White River Junction.
Police say a robber held up the People's United Bank on Maple Street at about 2:30 p.m. He did not show a weapon, but indicated he had one. He fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and jumped into a waiting pickup truck, driven by another man.
A witness says the stickup man had long blonde hair, which police believe may have been part of a disguise.
Police say shortly before the robbery at People's United, the same man went into the Mascoma Savings Bank on Sykes Mountain Ave., but left without incident.
Anyone who saw a suspiciously dressed man or blue standard cab pickup truck in the area of either bank Thursday is asked to call Hartford Police at 802-295-9425.
The White River Elementary School was locked down for about 30 minutes as a precaution.
