Cadets avoid SMC upset bid

Friday, January 18th

S. Burlington, VT -  In search of their first win over Norwich since 1951, the St. Michael's men's hockey team gave a great effort, but eventually fell 5-2 to the second ranked Cadets Friday night at Cairns Arena.

Down 1-0 after one on a Ben Morgan goal, the Knights scored twice early in the second period to take a 2-1 lead.  First, Ryan Arsenault found the net on a 5-on-3 power play to tie the game at one, then nearly two and a half minutes later, Rich Rodeschini scored his first of the season to put St. Mike's in front and thinking upset.

Seven minutes later, Norwich would equalize on the first of two goals from Tory Allen to send the game into the third tied at three.

The Cadets would reclaim the lead seven minutes into the final stanza as Blake Forkey scored.   Norwich would add goals from Erik Lyrvall and Allen to cap the scoring.
