Residents in Keeseville, N.Y., say they're ready to dissolve the village and join other towns.
Part of Keeseville is in the town of Ausable in Clinton County and the other part of the village is across the Ausable River in Chesterfield in Essex County.
Some residents argued taxes are high and the village gets no services, so why not dissolve and join towns already helping with services.
But a consultant's study showed that for many in the village taxes could go up.
The vote was 268 in favor of dissolving and 176 against.
While the village government and services will dissolve into its respective towns, the name likely would not go away.
"The name would still stay, you would still have, it would be a hamlet I guess, it would be the hamlet of Keeseville, like you have many others around the state," Keeseville Mayor Dale Holderman said.
Now the board of trustees would need to come up with a dissolution plan that would require voter approval.
