Jason WhisherAUSABLE FORKS, N.Y. -
The chief and treasurer of the Ausable Forks Volunteer Fire Department now faces charges for allegedly stealing from the department.
New York State Police say other firefighters alerted investigators that Jason Whisher stole money and forged checks.
It's not clear exactly how much money is involved, but police say it's more than $3,000.
Whisher denied the charges in court.
