MALONE, N.Y. -
An ice jam is forcing evacuations in Malone, N.Y.
Franklin County Emergency Management says five homes have been evacuated because the Salmon River is jumping its banks. First responders say there is a 4,000-foot ice sheet and it's growing.
The river used to be up to 10-feet deep there, but sediment from upstream makes the river only a couple feet deep now.
Crews say it's going to get worse before it gets better.
