Guilford considers closing middle school

GUILFORD, Vt. -

The town of Guilford is considering closing its middle school.

If it closed, the seventh- and eighth-graders would attend Brattleboro Area Middle School instead.

Supporters say Guilford has seen declining enrollment, and Brattleboro has more opportunities. But opponents say it would take away from local instruction.

The school board will weigh in on Sunday, but voters will have the final say on Town Meeting Day.
