The Coastal Maine Botanical Garden has a wonderful Children's Garden. It is really beautiful and has many different components to it. There are lots of different rooms.
One is the rainbow garden. It's a garden with every color in the rainbow! There are bright colored flowers, such as cherry, orange, red, and yellow. It's just a big mass of flowers that really gets you all excited about being in the garden.
There is also a big pond area with an old boat that kids love to play in. There is also a lot of gardens that relate to kid's stories. My favorite is Blueberries for Sal! There are lots of different kids stories are in a barn in the garden where they have books where kids can read the stories and then go out and experience the garden.
They, of course, have a Mr. McGregor's garden, which has all kinds of vegetables and fruits and kids can come in and actively participate in that garden. And do a little hands on gardening experience.
And then if they want to run around a little bit more, there's an old fashioned English maze that they can just wander around and they can really just explore it in a wide open field.
And finally what would a garden be without a few Dr. Seuss characters? Like a weeping white spruce and weeping false cypress.
So there's a lot of things here that kids can do between the water and the gardens and the hands on experiences, they could spend hours here while having a ball!
