The flu is hitting hard right now -- not just in people, but in dogs as well.
Veterinarians first thought they were seeing a massive outbreak of kennel cough two weeks ago, but Friday said the dogs -- some of them very ill -- are actually testing positive for canine influenza. Like people, the flu in dogs can lead to pneumonia.
The Long Trail Veterinary Center in Williston will be holding a discounted vaccination clinic beginning Monday. Dogs need two doses of the vaccine -- three weeks apart. You can call the Williston Road facility for an appointment -- or your own veterinarian.
