CASTLETON, Vt. -
What does football and ice fishing have in common?
Saturday the two sports combined for a fundraiser. The Castleton Football team hosted the Ice Fishing Derby on Lake Bomoseen. The day-long event included cash prizes for each of the three largest fish in four different categories: Northern Pike, Bass, Trout, Perch. ALL of the proceeds from the fundraiser go toward the Spartans.
Castleton State College football Coach Marc Klatt said, "We got the idea from the Asst. Coach Jason Challeen, when he lived out west. We brought that idea out here because we've got quite a large population of people that enjoy ice fishing and being outdoors. It was a great fit for us, a good way to give back to the community, and raise a little money for our program as well."@
The event raised 15 hundred dollars for the team.
