COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College women's basketball team picked up its fifth victory in its last six contests after topping the College of Saint Rose, 70-59, in Northeast-10 Conference play on Saturday at Ross Sports Center. The Purple Knights improve to 7-10 overall, and 5-8 in the league after the win, while the Golden Knights drop to 6-11 and 3-10.
Senior Megan Olsen (Glenmont, N.Y./Bethlehem Central) notched a career-best 31 points, falling just five short of the program record held by Kathy O'Neil '81. Olsen also tallied five rebounds and six steals for Saint Michael's while shooting 10-of-17 from the field, 4-for-5 from three-point range, and 7-of-9 from the free throw line. Junior Alexa Long (Waterford, Conn./Waterford) recorded her second double-double of the season, totaling 10 points and 11 boards, while classmate Cara Deroy (Hamden, Conn./Hamden) finished with 10 points and four assists. Senior Nicole Adach (Schenectady, N.Y./Mohonasen) added eight points and four rebounds, and first-year Makenzie Burud (Red Hook, N.Y./Coleman Catholic) had six points, six boards and three steals.
Saint Michael's returns to action on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., when it hosts an Assumption College team receiving votes in the most recent USA TODAY national poll.

The Purple Knights are now 5-12 overall and 2-11 in the league, while the Golden Knights improved to 10-7 and 7-6.
Sophomore James Cambronne (De Bary, Fla./The Winchendon School) scored 10 of his team-high 14 points in the second half for the Purple and Gold, while classmate Mike Thompson (Rosedale, N.Y./Christ The King Regional) approached a double-double thanks to 11 points and nine rebounds. First-year Greg Grippo (Edison, N.J./Rutgers Prep) added 10 points, senior Derek Knutty (Rocklin, Calif./Whitney) totaled eight points and nine boards, while sophomore Dom Ditlefsen (Portland, Ore./Sunset) had eight points and four assists. Classmate Corey Crawford II (Dover, Del./The Phelps School) dished off a game-high five helpers.
The Purple Knights remain home to face 16th-ranked Assumption College on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The Greyhounds were ranked this week by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).
