BURLINGTON, Vt. -
The mini marathon lasted just .9 miles or about a block down Church Street.
Organizers say it's a short run but it can make a big difference. The event was a fundraiser for the Vermont Children's Trust Foundation. Roughly $8,000 was raised for the foundation. The money will be put toward community based education programs like literacy initiatives and mentoring groups. They say the run is short to prove that you don't have to be an all-star athlete to make a positive impact on the life of a child.
Organizers are hoping to make the run a yearly event.
