Skiing to help keep neighbors warm

Posted: Updated:

Skiers braved the cold in Montpelier today to "Ski For Heat."

Cross country skiers at Morse Farm hit the trails to bring fuel assistance to low income Vermonters. Morse farm donated all proceeds from the ski tickets to the Central Vermont Community Action Council. Combined with donations from sponsors about 10-thousand dollars was raised for the Ski for Heat program. This is the thirteenth year for the event.

Kevin Wiberg of the CVAC said Sunday, "I think part of it is just raising awareness of how much fuel costs in Vermont when someone runs out at night or on a weekend. And this is a real way we can help our neighbors stay warm."

There was a second event held in the town of Peru Sunday. Working to bring fuel assistance to those in need in the Southern Vermont region.
