Meeting to choose Windsor County state's attorney

WINDSOR COUNTY, Vt. -

Windsor County will soon see a new state's attorney.

Current prosecutor Robert Sand has been tapped by Governor Shumlin to lead a new DUI court and will effectively retire in March.

The Rutland Herald reports 78 delegates are meeting on February 11 at 7 p.m. to nominate a new state's attorney.

Two potential nominees include current Windsor County Deputy State's Attorney David Cahill and Orange County Deputy State's Attorney Michael Kainen. It is an open nomination process.

Governor Shumlin will make the final appointment.
