The company that owns the Moretown
landfill says it has installed a plastic cap and taken other steps to reduce
the smell.
Advanced Disposal says they put in a
2-acre plastic sheet over part of the landfill and installed a new piping
system, which the company says will reduce odors that neighbors have been
complaining about.
These measures are part of the
landfill operator's new plan they presented to a very skeptical audience two
weeks ago in Moretown.
State regulators will decide in early
March whether or not to shut the landfill down.
