A fire Wednesday morning damaged the Wendy's in Essex Junction.
Investigators say the stubborn blaze started in a heating unit on the roof. Firefighters had to strip back layers of the roof to get to the flames.
"The plan is to do whatever we can today to get the store open," said Jessica Neiland, the restaurant manager. "I'm not sure how long we're going to be closed today. My goal is to do whatever we can do, work with the fire department to get everything taken care of so we can open as soon as possible. I'm looking to open by tomorrow."
This is the second time Wendy's has had a problem with that heating unit.
The fire forced the closure of busy Pearl Street for more than two hours.
