Shawn FarrellALBURGH, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police say four Grand Isle County residents are facing charges of stealing more than $200,000 worth of gold coins from a vacant house after the eccentric owner had died in a farm accident.
Authorities have arrested 32-year-old Jennifer Jarvis, 35-year-old Ricky Benjamin and 52-year-old Mark Mumley, all of Alburgh and 41-yer-old Shawn Farrell of Swanton on possession of stolen property and other charges.
They're accused of breaking into a home that has been vacant for several months after the owner died and stealing the coins.
Police said Thursday that they sold the coins, ranging in value from $350 to $1,800, to coin and jewelry dealers around Chittenden County.
So far, police have recovered $5,000 worth of coins. More arrests are expected.
