Icy roads caused a three-car pileup on Route 2 in Danville. Part of the road was shut down around 7 p.m. Thursday while the fire department worked to both clear the scene and wait for a VTrans truck to drop sand before they would allow drivers to continue on the road.
Fire officials say a quick change of weather and untreated roads are to blame for the crash.
"It happened really really fast. It was a squall that came through, the wind blowing 35 to 40 miles an hour covered the roads and it was just quick," said Asst. Chief Bob Briggs of the Danville Fire Department.
