See a problem in Burlington? SeeClickFix it

Posted: Updated:

Burlington is battling code enforcement violations with a new smartphone app.

The SeeClickFix app and website help people report violations, like trash on the curb or sneakers on electric wires. GPS tracking is used to identify the location of the violation. You can attach a picture of the violation, and then track the response to your complaint. The city started using the technology in October. So far, 182 reports have been filed. The city has responded to 171 of them.

"I think it's sort of a cool, new tool where people can see immediate results. It encourages engagement. Encourages community involvement to fix things that they want to see improved," said Bill Ward of Burlington Public Works.

South Burlington also uses the site to track enforcement issues. The Church Street Marketplace and the Burlington International Airport are looking into the program, as well.
