'Ozzie' Osborne wraps up firefighting career

Posted: Updated:
WILLISTON, Vt. -

He spent 60 years as a Williston firefighter -- now he's retiring.

Lieutenant Lynwood Osborne -- better known as "Ozzie" -- is retiring at the age of 80. His colleagues honored his dedication to the department at the firehouse Monday.

"I'll miss the guys and I'll actually miss going out. You go out and you help people and it makes you feel good that you saved their car from burning or maybe they were in a car accident and you help them out of that," Osborne said.

Ozzie managed the department's service records and safety tracking during the latter part of his career. He plans to take a few weeks vacation before finding a part time job to keep busy.
