UPPER JAY, N.Y. -
Firefighters in Upper Jay New York want to head to higher ground.
The former firehouse on Route 9N was flooded out by the Ausable River during Tropical Storm Irene, and now the town is asking voters to approve a $100,000 bond to help pay for a new building on Valley Road.
The Plattsburgh Press-Republican reports federal and state funding is expected to cover the rest of the $2.5 million price tag, and if approved, work will begin in May.
A public meeting is set for next Tuesday at the Wells Memorial Library.
