Prison in Berlin still hiring

Posted: Updated:
BERLIN, N.H. -

There are still plenty of jobs available at the new federal prison in Berlin, N.H.

The prison opened last fall. The minimum to medium security facility can hold up to 1,700 prisoners. And plans call for about 340 total employees.

The federal Bureau of Prisons says there are still about 100 openings for corrections officers. The facility also needs vocational instructors to teach inmates in the areas of carpentry and electrical work. Those instructor jobs offer pay between $38,000 and $56,000 a year.

There will be a job fair Feb. 19 from 5-7 p.m. at the employment security office on Pleasant Street in Berlin.
