It's been years in the making, but a solar project in Pownal is finally online.
It's the first major economic activity at the 144-acre park since the former Green Mountain Race Track shut down back in 1992. Then a solar park at the venue was proposed in 2010.
Last year, it was sold to Gestamp Renewables, a Spanish company.
The Bennington Banner reports that the 2.2 megawatt solar facility at the Southern Energy Park went online in December.
It's expected to power about 360 homes.
