One southbound lane was blocked Friday afternoon and traffic was backed up going north.
Police are advising drivers to avoid the area near Exit 13 if possible.
Earlier in the day, a multiple-vehicle crash caused substantial traffic delays on Interstate 89 south in an area known as "Bolton Flats."
Police are also asking drivers to slow down as snow has made for some difficult driving conditions.
