Federal health officials say the worst of the flu season appears to be over, but that's not the case here in Vermont.
The Centers for Disease Control says the number of states reporting intense or widespread flu dropped again last week. The death toll also fell across the country.
But Vermont health officials say providers continue to report widespread influenza in the Green Mountain State. The number of visits for flu-like illness remains much higher than normal.
The flu season this year started about a month early and the dominant strain causes more severe illness.
