Putting your brain to the test

Posted: Updated:

Saturday eight high school teams from across the state competed in the 4th annual Vermont Brain Bee. It was hosted by the University of Vermont.

Each team received a Brain Facts packet months in advanced to study from where all competition questions are formulated. After written exams, team finalists move on to an oral bee. Students say the questions are anything brain-related.

"It's a lot of brain facts, there's structure, neuro-transmitters in the brain, their functions what they do, functions of certain areas, what else? Diseases" said Forest Wallace, competitor from the Mt. Abe High School team.

The team from Otter Valley Union High School placed first in this year's competition. Nora Enright gave the winning answer. The team will NOW move on to nationals in Baltimore, Maryland.
