VTrans employees are headed to Foxborough Massachusetts to help with storm clean up. 35 people-- with 60 pieces of equipment-- will be rolling out of Dummerston at 4am Sunday. They will be helping with snow removal in the Bay State for the next 4 days.
"We are very lucky here in Vermont that we were able to stay on top of it and the storm didn't hit us as bad," said Deputy Transportation Secretary Sue Minter.
"But as we learned in Irene, we need to help our neighbors and we are glad to be able to do that. The last time that we know that we have been asked to help Massachusetts was the storm of 1978," Minter said.
The request for aid is part of the Emergency Management Assistance Compact, signed among the states to send or receive assistance in emergencies.
