SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. -

This week the three candidates to be the next leader of Vermont's National Guard will face some tough questions during interviews.

The Committee charged with finding candidates will publicly interview all three on the major issues facing the guard this Thursday.

Representative Helen Head chairs that committee. She says one line of questioning will focus on handling sexual harrassment and assault within the guard.

"It's important that the Adjutant General really understand and make the workplace a safe and supportive one for all Vermonters -- and all members of the Guard," Head says.

After the interviews, the Adjutant General will be decided in a secret ballot by the full legislature on February 21. The newly-elected leader will take his post March 1.
