VTrans lending a helping hand

Posted: Updated:

Vermont is the only state in New England that did not declare some type of state of emergency following Friday's blizzard. So that allowed Vermont to help its neighbors. Yesterday the Transportation Agency dispatched 35 employees and 60 pieces of equipment to help clear roads in Massachusetts. VTRANS crew chief, Tammy Ellis, described the challenges her team is facing in Boston.

"It's been more than a crazy 24 hours for most of this crew because everyone who is here worked all through the snow storm as it went through Vermont. What I'm seeing on some of these side streets is just piles of snow right up over the tops of cars so there's really no where to plow the snow to," said Ellis.

With an update on what crews are dealing with, Sue Minter, the Deputy Secretary of the Transportation Agency, gave us some insight.
