Guilford woman sentenced for embezzlement

GUILFORD, Vt. -

A Guilford woman will spend a year and a half behind bars for embezzling more than $80,000 from the Algiers Fire District.

Sherry Roebuck, 52, had been treasurer of the district, and prosecutors say she stole the money over a four-year period by writing checks to herself.

As part of her sentence, she is also required to pay the money back.
