Mass. man held over alleged teacher assault

BRATTLEBORO, Vt. -

A Massachusetts man is being held without bail on charges he kidnapped and assaulted a teacher at the Austine School for the Deaf.

Timothy Carroll, 21, lives at the school. Police say last Thursday he threw chairs at a supervisor and grabbed her by the throat, but she was able to escape.

The teacher told police Carroll came into her office angry because the sun was shining on him.

A competency evaluation has been ordered.
