RAY BROOK, N.Y. -
A fight is brewing over new rules on clear-cutting in the Adirondacks.
The Adirondack Park Agency could vote as soon as Thursday to streamline the process for all logging permits, eliminating a special review for large-scale clear-cuts.
A coalition of environmental groups are opposing the rule change and asking the governor to intervene. The timber industry says fears the change will lead to widescale clear-cutting are unfounded.
