BURLINGTON, Vt. -

As many as 5,000 people may be needed in order to find an unbiased jury in a upcoming murder trial.

Michael Jacques has pleaded not guilty to charges that he abducted, sexually assaulted and killed his 12-year-old niece Brooke Bennett back in 2008.

If convicted, he could face the death penalty.

A federal judge said Thursday they may end up having to simultaneously use all three federal courthouses across the state during the process.

Jury selection is scheduled to start in September.
