BURLINGTON, Vt. -
In Burlington, the organic farming industry was on the menu.
At the 31st annual NOFA winter conference, about 9-hundred people and some of the state's top political leaders gathered for a weekend of workshops and networking and tasty food.
Organizers say 20 percent of the state's dairy farmers are now organic and there are about 5-hundred-80 certified organic farms.
This meeting which attracts gardeners, farmers, homesteaders, and consumers, is a way for them to collaborate.
Enid Wonnacott, Exec. Director of NOFA Vt. said "That was the genesis of it was how do we come together year after year and share what we're learning. A lot of organic agriculture is trial and error and people are learning as they're going"
Wonnacott estimates a third of the attendees are full-time farmers. That conference continues through Sunday.
