Police are investigating what's being called the "untimely death" of a University of Vermont student in his apartment.
Police were called to an apartment at the Redstone Lofts around 2 a.m. Sunday. James B. Love, 20, a mechanical engineering student from New York state was pronounced dead inside. Police do not suspect foul play but would not comment on cause of death as the investigation is still ongoing.
"It's important for us to be united as a university community and stand by the family and offer whatever support were able to provide," said UVM Spokesman Enrique Corredera.
University officials said Love was also involved on the cross-country and track varsity teams.
"Jamie was an immensely dedicated student and friend and his genuine contribution to the UVM community will be deeply missed. The hearts of every UVM student are with his family and his friends," said Connor Daley, President of UVM's Student Government Association.
Even though Redstone Lofts are on school grounds, the apartments are technically considered off campus as they were constructed and are managed by a private company.
University officials said UVM's Counseling services will be open for special hours during Monday's holiday. An informal community gathering in remembrance of Love will be held on Wednesday, February 20, in the Billings 1st floor North Lounge at 12 p.m.
