Saranac Lake fixing water main break

SARANAC LAKE, N.Y. -

Town officials in Saranac Lake hope to have a major water main break repaired by Monday at the earliest.

Village crews discovered the broken pipe Friday. The break in in front of of the Community Bank building disrupted service to apartments and businesses in the Broadway Block. Officials say because of the depth of the pipe -- nearly 8 feet -- special equipment had to be brought in. On Sunday, workers also discovered additional breaks in the line. Temporary water service has been arranged for some locations. A boil water order remains in effect for the area.
