KODIAK ISLAND, Alaska -
An Alaska man has been arrested in connection for last years shootings at a remote Coast Guard communications base that left two people dead -- one of them a Vermonter.
James Michael Wells of Kodiak was taken into custody Friday for the murders of Petty Officer James Hopkins and Richard Belisle after months of investigation by federal authorities.
Petty Officer Hopkins, who graduated from Vergennes Union High School, was an electronics technician at the Kodiak Island base, which monitors radio traffic from ships and planes.
More details about the motive for the murders is expected later this week when Wells appears in court.
