Admit it. You saw the thermometer over the weekend and decided to stay in. These guys didn't hide from the cold, they embraced it. 600 players from all over North America made up the 83 teams that participated in the Lake Champlain Pond Hockey Classic.
"When you strap on the skates it takes you back to when you were about 12 years old," Tournament Director Lou Dimasi said. "You're skating on the pond with your family and friends. It's something real special."
"It's really just good team bonding," BFA-St. Albans Graduate and pond hockey player Ben Gorton said. "The local businesses do a great job around here supporting us, giving out deals, encouraging people to go out and have a good time and enjoy Burlington."
And doing it while surviving near zero temperatures, makes them true weekend warriors.
