Stanley Salley scored a game high 18 points as Vergennes beat Middlebury Tuesday Night, 52-36 in front of a packed house at Vergennes Union High School.
Salley scored the Commodores first 8 points of the game as Vergennes took a 12-11 lead after the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Middlebury took a 2 point lead thanks in part to a couple of impressive drives by Connor Collins. Collins finished with 8 points.
However, Vergennes would close out the half scoring 10 straight points taking a 27-18 lead into the break.
Middlebury made it interesting in the third quarter, cutting the lead to 6 after a Perry DeLorenzo (11 points) three-pointer.
The Commodores would go on a 6-0 run later in the quarter to basically put the game out of reach. Zach Ouellette (13 points), poked the ball away from a Tiger player and capped it off with a lay-up on the other end of the court. After the basket, Vergennes stole the ball in the back court and Ouellette would have another lay-in.
Vergennes improves to 19-0 while Middlebury drops to 14-5.
