Vt. mayors join forces to push policy changes

Posted: Updated:

The mayors of Vermont are joining forces in hopes of learning from each other and creating policy changes.

The Times Argus reports the mayors of Barre, Montpelier, Rutland, St. Albans, Newport, Vergennes and Winooski are lobbying together to fight for change for their cities.

They say they want to see changes to the TIF program, give local law enforcement access to the state drug database, get more tax credits for housing developments and create a state law preventing felons from owning firearms.

Their next meeting is February 28 at the statehouse.
