BURLINGTON, Vt. -
Fire has shut down a classroom building at the University of Vermont.
The fire at Williams Hall broke out in a custodial closet around 9:30 a.m. Friday. It was quickly extinguished by the sprinkler system. The building was evacuated and is closed for the day. There is water damage on the first floor and smoke and water damage on the second floor. It's not known how much repairs will cost.
Lecture and discussion
classes held in Williams Hall have been relocated. Studio and lab classes that
are held in Williams Hall have been
canceled for Friday. UVM officials are urging students to check the UVM Emergency Page and the
MyUVM portal for new class locations.
Classes in Williams Hall will
be held as regularly scheduled on Monday.
