BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont woman has been sentenced to three years of probation for contributing to her mother's drug overdose death this past summer in Burlington.
Thirty-four year-old Lisa Fox pleaded no contest earlier this week to charges that she contributed to the death of Cindy Goulet on June 3.
The Burlington Free Press reports that a judge said Friday that knowing she played a role in her mother's death outweighed any penalty the court could impose.
The 54-year-old died of a lethal combination of Dilaudid and cocaine.
Fox had initially denied allegations that she gave her mother the drug Dilaudid.
According to a police affidavit, Fox's sister told police that Fox had given their mother Dilaudid, and another woman, 28-year-old Anna Clark, of Winooski, had brought crack cocaine to the residence.
