NEW YORK -
An environmental group in the Adirondacks is challenging the state's new snowmobile policies.
Snowmobilers say the changes, which include 12-foot-wide "connector trials," promote economic development.
However the group "Protect the Adirondacks" says thousands of trees in Adirondack Park would need to be cut, which they say violates the state's "forever wild" clause. The group is pushing for narrower trails.
The D.E.C. and Adirondack Park Agency conducted a thorough review before adopting the changes.
