FRANKLIN, Vt. -
The town of Franklin may not be the only community without a prayer come Town Meeting Day.
Last year Marilyn Hackett sued the town of Franklin, saying that having a public prayer before town meeting goes against the Vermont Constitution, and a judge sided with her.
Now the Rutland Herald reports the Vermont League of Cities and Towns is encouraging the remaining communities who participate in public prayer to abide by this ruling and skip the prayer on March 5.
