Group says Brooks House project back on track

Posted: Updated:
BRATTLEBORO, Vt. -

A project to redevelop the Brooks House in Brattleboro is now back on track.

The Main Street property needed to be completely restored after a fire in April 2011 severely damaged it. And then it flooded during Tropical Storm Irene.

Work was expected to start in January, but financial problems caused a delay. But the Brattleboro Reformer reports developers now say they're close to finalizing a deal that could allow them to start work in May.

So far, the project group says it has commitments for about 60 percent of the building space.
