RUTLAND, Vt. -
Solar streetlights are getting the green light in Rutland.
The Public Service Board approved the pilot program, which is a collaboration between Green Mountain Power and Rutland, and the latest in the utility's efforts to turn Rutland into the solar capital of New England.
The eight lights will be installed in Depot Park and are expected to produce about 93 percent of the energy they consume.
