The state tournament brackets are out for boys high school basketball. It all begins with some first round games scheduled for Tuesday with the majority taking place Wednesday. St. Johnsbury is the top seed in Division one. The Hilltoppers finishing the regular season 20-0 including a thrilling OT win at Rice just a couple weeks ago. Vergennes is top seed in D2. The Commodores finishing the regular season 20-0 getting that last win at Missisquoi Friday. Williamstown at 20-0 is the top seed in division 3 and is the only team in the state to have a bye in the opening round. Rochester is the top seed in Division 4. The Rockets going 19-1 in the regular season with that one loss coming at the hands of Williamstown.
Meanwhile, Ashlie Fay scored a team high 14 points while teammate Meghan Livingston added 13 as the Mount Abraham girls basketball team beat Colchester, 43-41 Monday night at Colchester High School. The game remained close throughout the fourth quarter as a Cassidy Wells Jumper with 3 minutes left cut the Eagles lead to 34-33. Mt. Abe would get a basket from Fay and a three pointer from Samantha Driscoll with less than 2 minutes remaining to put the game on ice.
Colchester's Jackie Nagle led all scorers with 17 points. The Lakers drop to 11-7 while Mt. Abraham improves to 18-1.
