A new exhibit at Rokeby Museum

Posted: Updated:

Vermont was the first state to abolish slavery in its constitution, and the first to enroll and graduate a black student, who went on to serve in the state Legislature.

So to honor that past, the state decided to open an African-American Heritage Trail. Kristin Carlson got a preview of one of the exhibits getting set to open soon. She spoke with director, Jane Williamson. Watch the video for more.

The Rokeby Museum in Ferrisburgh currently attracts 2,000 visitors a year, but they hope to double that with the new exhibit.
