A Northeast Kingdom journalist and the state's largest utility have reached a settlement.
Chris Braithwaite, who publishes the Barton Chronicle, was covering protests on Lowell Mountain in December 2011. Police arrested the protesters and Braithwaite for unlawful trespassing. The case against Braithwaite was later thrown out.
GMP will pay him $22,500 to cover his legal expenses, which Braithwaite called a fair resolution. GMP says settling the case avoided a costly litigation process.
