CASTLETON, VT - The Castleton women's basketball team rebounded from disappointment, while the men battled to the wire in sweeping a pair of ECAC Tournament quarterfinal games Wednesday at Glenbrook Gym.
After not earning an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament despite a 26-2 record, the Castleton women jumped out to a 16 point halftime lead and never let it dip below double figures in the second half on their way to a 63-47 win over Albertus Magnus.
Stephanie Linder had a double double, 15 points and 11 rebounds, to lead the Spartans to the win. They will host a semifinal game Saturday.
The Castlemen men rode a trio of Vermonters to an 80-79 win over Wentworth. Senior standout Mark Comstock of Rutland scored a game high 21, junior Logan White of Hartford added 12 and senior Dammy Mustapha dropped in 14 points capped by a tip in off a rebound with four seconds left that clinched the win.
